We want to help nature to regenerate so that future generations can live in a world worth living in. As a company, we see it as our responsibility to ensure that consumption has no negative consequences for our planet. But more than that. We believe we must use our leverage to turn the balance into a positive one. What our earth urgently needs is new biomass that binds CO2 - trees, many of them!
With every product sold we plant a tree. So simple, so effective. We work together with the renowned reforestation network Eden Projects. Monthly we donate the appropriate amount, and get a detailed report where the trees were planted and how they help people and nature.
In Madagascar we plant mangroves that can bind an above-average amount of CO2 (approx. 300kg/tree). They also act as an important coastal protection system, preventing land from being eroded and washed into the ocean. In this way, more fertile land is preserved and the extent of natural disasters such as tsunamis can be reduced. The mangroves also help to protect the 200,000 animal and plant species that are found nowhere else in the world. Many of them are threatened with extinction.
A look at Villamatsu, Madagascar shows what we can change together. There, 90% of the mangrove forests have already been cleared. Eden Projects hires the poorest local population and gives them and nature a perspective again.
The result is impressive. Climate researchers have proven that mangroves are among the most efficient CO2 binders. Tropical coastal trees store most of the CO2 in the soil at depths of up to 3 metres.
For a long time we have been looking for a partner with transparency and the necessary know-how. Eden Projects is a globally active, experienced NGO that knows how to help sustainably by recruiting local people and providing long-term support for reforested areas.
We can show that capitalism also works differently. Other companies such as share, lycka or Original Beans also participate in the 1-for-1 principle. We'll be happy to have you with us.
